Dizzle JA gets conscious with self-titled EP
On his previous project, Dizzle JA went for shock value with a collection of risqué songs. But for his self-titled EP, the lanky deejay toned down the sex talk.
Dizzle JA was released in early October and has five songs including Never Say Neva, its lead track. The Los Angeles-based artiste said he wanted to break new ground.
“It’s way different from my other projects, on this EP I have found myself talking about life and past events that occurred to me. Over the years, I always wanted to go deeper in my emotions but I just could never make those songs, but now that I am in a better place for some reason, everything starts to come to me and I am expressing them on this EP,” he told Observer Online.
In addition to Never Say Neva, he has high hopes for Bashment Girl, which currently has a video in rotation.
The EP is a total contrast to Sex Tape, Dizzle JA’s eighth album which came out last December. It is his raunchiest effort since he began recording 20 years ago.
On Dizzle JA, the St Thomas-raised act worked with several producers including longtime collaborators Sheldon Ermack, 1Don Smith and Michael “Jahsee” Reason as well as American Bear Beatz.
