Scream Halloween party delivered the treats for patrons
HALLOWEEN is a tradition that is commemorated primarily in the United States but in recent years it has developed a cult following locally with the staging of Halloween-themed parties and events.
Scream, a Halloween party that took place on grounds close to Student’s Union at The University of the West Indies, Mona, was a musical treat for patrons consisting mostly of university students and young adults, who turned out in their numbers.
Costumes that added to the excitement of the event ranged from cartoon characters, Roman and Greek goddesses, and construction site workers, to characters from popular television shows such as Wonder Woman and Batman.
However, even though the costumes were a sight to behold, the DJs were the real highlight as they delivered exciting musical offerings that saw patrons dancing up a storm.
DJ Heavy D from Chromatic, with mic man Fyahman in tow, was a standout. Armed with popular dancehall treats Heavy D ripped through songs by Najeeriii, RajahWild and Valiant, much to the delight of patrons.
Other entertaining sets came from DJ Breeze and Jubba Dem from Monster Sound, DJ JJ Deadlock and DJ Insaneo from Juggling Masters, Bloodline Franco and Brush1 the Road Marshall, as well as DJ Vinchi and Chiney K.
Keifa Desnoes, spokesperson for Hourz Entertainment, promoters of Scream, was pleased with how things turned out at the event.
“The vibe at Scream was amazing; all positivity and high energy all around. The music was good and most patrons came dressed in costume to match the theme of the event. It was an unforgettable night,” said Desnoes.
He said the high point for him was the connection that the DJs made with patrons.
“The high point was seeing how the DJs connected with the patrons. We also had four designated photo areas which were flooded with patrons taking photos. The music was amazing,” Desnoes disclosed.
Desnoes also added that they had to expand the size of the venue due to the strong support that the event received last year, for its debut staging.
“Last year we did have a packed venue and, due to that, we decided to double the size of the venue this year, and we still managed to get a full house. The support that we got from our patrons, whom we have dubbed as Screamers, was amazing and this could not have been possible without their presence, their energy and their vibe.”
