Bleachers closed for Caribbean Cup final due to security issues
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Due to security concerns, the bleachers section in the National Stadium will reportedly be closed for Wednesday evening’s Concacaf Caribbean Cup final between Jamaica’s Cavalier FC and Suriname’s SV Robinhood.
This follows the Ministry of Sport’s previous announcement that the bleachers would be open to the public for free.
Cavalier advanced to the final after beating fellow Jamaican club Harbour View 5-0 on aggregate in the semi-finals.
Meanwhile, Robinhood defeated Dominican Republic’s Moca in a penalty shootout following a 1-1 aggregate draw in the semi-finals.
The final is slated for 7:00 pm Jamaica time.
The winner of the competition will be crowned as the Caribbean Cup’s first-ever champion and will receive a bye to the 2024 Champions Cup Round of 16.
The runner-up and winner of the third-place series will also qualify for next year’s Champions Cup and begin play in Round One, Conacaf said.
