Couple killed in St Thomas home invasion
A man and a woman were shot dead at their home at Newland Road in Yallahs, St Thomas, on Thursday night.
The dead man has been identified as 71-year-old Valin Strachan. The female is still unidentified.
Reports reaching Observer Online indicate that around 8:00 pm, residents heard gunshots in the area and summoned the police. On arrival, lawmen saw the two bodies lying in the yard.
The female, the police said, was lying to the left side of a vehicle and was clad in a red and white floral dress and black slippers.
Strachan was seen lying beside a concrete wall and was clad in a blue shirt, full-length blue jeans, and grey and burgundy shoes, the police said.
A grey Toyota Axio was parked in the yard with the front passenger door opened. The grill to the house was opened with two open padlocks attached.
Police said from information gathered, the couple lived alone at the house and regularly left and returned together. Three spent casings were found after detectives processed the scene.
No motive has yet been established for the attack, the police said.
