A night of marvel
Since its inception in 2016, the Midnight Chiq New Year’s Eve party has become the high point of glamour and enchantment on Kingston’s waterfront.
Year after year, this extraordinary event captivates the hearts of party-goers. Guests who secured their tickets through Gustazos were treated to a regal experience. Each guest received a table, adorned with elegant black and white stripes tablecloths, with yachts and ships docked in the backdrop, offering a breathtaking view of the fireworks extravaganza.
As the clock struck midnight, the night sky transformed into a mesmerising canvas.
The musical journey, guided by DJ Marc Chin of Coppershot and DJ Spinn, enhanced the ambience, transcending genres and generations. From the timeless melodies of old-school reggae to the infectious rhythms of hip hop and today’s vibrant dancehall hits, the DJs curated a play list that resonated with the diverse crowd. Adding an extra layer of allure, a skilled drummer took the stage, delivering a captivating rendition of the beloved anthem Gwaan Wid the Road, perfectly complementing the pulsating bass of the latest hits.
Jermaine Brown, the visionary promoter of Marquee Entertainment, shared his inspiration behind the event’s rebranding from Bal Harbour to Midnight Chiq after the challenges posed by COVID-19. He explained, “Midnight Chiq is designed to cater to the desires of middle-aged and young individuals seeking a night of elegance and revelry to bid farewell to the old year and welcome the new one in style, all while being captivated by the city’s grand fireworks display.”
Brown also emphasised the significance of the revitalisation of downtown Kingston and expressed his eagerness to reintroduce the waterfront area to the local community.
Organising a New Year’s Eve celebration is no small feat, as it carries the weight of high expectations. Yet, Brown’s planning ensured that this night surpassed all expectations.
New Year’s Eve is a time of heightened anticipation, and Brown truly delivered an evening that will be cherished in the hearts of attendees for years to come.
