Teejay continues surge up Billboard charts

Teejay’s summer blockbuster hit Drift continues its winning ways on the Billboard R&B airplay charts.

Drift, produced by DJ Mac/Panda/Top Braff Music, was released internationally by Warner Music after Teejay signed a deal with the US-based label last year.

Interestingly, there are three videos for the song currently making moves on social media. The original Drift now stands at 16 millions views on YouTube since it was uploaded 7 months ago.

A remix featuring Afrobeats artiste DaVido, released three weeks ago, has racked up more than 1.1 million views, while another remix featuring rapper French Montana has 616,000 views since it was released two weeks ago.

On R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, Drift cruises from #43 to #40, while on Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, the song steps up from #32 to #29 to arrive at a new peak in its 9th week on the chart.

Over on Rhythmic Top 40, Drift inches up from #34 to #3 in its tenth week. The song rose as far as #30 a few weeks ago.

Moving now to the Billboard Reggae Albums chart, there isn’t much activity as most titles retain their places from a week ago.

Bob Marley and the Wailers continues dominance in the #1 spot with Legend clocking 208 non-consecutive weeks.

Shaggy’s Best of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection is holding firm at #2, likewise Sean Paul’s Dutty Classics Collection and Dutty Rock at #4 and #5 respectively.

Greatest Hits by UB40 is steady at #5, while World on Fire, Set in Stone and Wisdom all by Stick Figure are #6, #7, and #8 respectively.

Masicka’s Generation of Kings, which made a splash five weeks ago when it entered and peaked at #2, has fallen to #9.

MOBO nominee Byron Messia is a non-mover at #10 with No Love.

Let’s now take a look at regional charts.

On the Rebel Vibez Top Ten Canadian Reggae chart, High Grade Spot by Neto Yuth and Daddy Mory takes over the #1 spot. RIP Fake Friends by Jamaican-born JUNO nominee Josemar is firm at #2, while Stir This Thing by former Clarendon native Ammoye featuring Turbulence is #3.

Jamaica Nice by Tasha T moves up to #5, while Dread by JUNO winner Kirk Diamond is #7. New Day by Mel C is #9 and Neon Lights by Papa Levy is #10.

Over on the South Florida Reggae chart, former Fab 5 veteran Grub Cooper takes over the #1 spot.

Meanwhile, Switch You On by Romain Virgo bolts from #16 to #12, while Hold You Close by Kevoy Clarke (#22), Boxing Around by Shuga (#23), and All and All by Tanto Metro and Devonte (#24) are the new entries.

Statue of a Fool by Richie Stephens spends a 2nd week at #1 on The Foundation Radio Network (New York) Reggae chart.

Niceness by Marcia Griffiths surges from #6 to #2, while Brutal by Mykal Rose steps up from #12 to #6. Starlight by Naomi Cowan improves from #11 to #9.

New entries are Vacation in the Caribbean by Fancy D (#29) and Orthodoxy by Winston Irie (#30).
