Lake Group celebrates staff at fun day
The Lake Group, in an unprecedented move, closed all its restaurants on Sunday, January 21, 2024 to give its entire team an opportunity to relax and enjoy being served at a fun day.
Held at Puerto Seco Beach in St Ann, the fun day saw hundreds of employees of Burger King, Popeyes, Little Caesars, and Krispy Kreme — as well as Aerocon, Island Homes, and Lydford Logistics — being treated to sumptuous breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets, plus entertainment by some of the island’s premier artistes, including Agent Sasco and Jah Vinci, as well as a performance by a Michael Jackson impersonator.
Lake Group CEO Lisa Lake Epstein marshalled formalities at the start of the morning, welcoming team members.
Among a host of awards presented to staff was the ‘full hundred recognition’, which celebrated team members across all brands who have never been absent or reported sick for six consecutive months. The period covered was July 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022 and January 1, 2023 to June 30, 2023.
As a bonus, full hundred qualification made employees eligible for the Full Hundred Raffle for the chance to win $100,000, first prize; $75,000, second prize; and $50,000 for third place.
This was in addition to an attendance bonus paid fortnightly.
All Full Hundred qualifiers received $5,000 each, while a prize of $100,000 for the store management team with the most qualifying staff was also presented.
Manager of the Year awards were presented to Shauna Archer, Burger King, Manor Park; Bethloy Higgins, Popeyes, May Pen; Jody-Ann Francis, Little Caesars, May Pen; and Gina Harrison, Island Homes.
Several employees won a range of other awards, including Team Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Best Multi-tasker, the Courtesy Award, Most Improved, Excellence in Customer Service, and Most Disciplined.
