Lacovia High’s Dockery wins double at STETHS

ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica— Lacovia High’s Sabrina Dockery was a double winner at Saturday’s 39th staging of the GraceKennedy/STETHS Invitational held at the St Elizabeth Technical Sports Complex in Santa Cruz.

There were a number of outstanding performances at the meet that saw the hosts and Edwin Allen High girls dominating most of the events, on the track and in the field.

Dockery, the ISSA Champs double silver medallist, won the Class 2 girls’ 400m in 58.16 seconds, beating Sydney Pagon High’s Denae Hodges (59.19 seconds) and STETHS’ Shavanecia Griffiths in 59.32 seconds.

Later, she returned to take the 200m Open with a wind-aided 24.57 seconds (5.4m/s) followed by the Bellefield High pair of Anecia Campbell- 25.47 seconds (3.8m/s) and Britney-Ann Powell- 25.52 seconds (2.9m/s).

Manchester High School runners won the Girls Classes 1 and 3 400m events; Mickayla Surtherland clocked 58.23 seconds to win the Class 1 event, while Vennesha Pommells won Class 3 with 1 minute, 00.96 seconds.

Theo Morgan of Edwin Allen took the Class 1 boys’ 400m with 50.99 seconds, ahead of St Elizabeth Technical’s James McLeod- 51.33 seconds and Cornwall College’s Mario Birch- 51.54 seconds.

Troydian Flemmings won the Class 2 boys’ 400m with 51.31 seconds, beating Green Island High’s Oshane Jervis’ 52.15 seconds and Maggotty High’s Akeem Honeyghon- 52.23 seconds.

Edwin Allen High runners won three of the four girls’ 100m events with St Elizabeth Technical’s Habiba Harris winning Class 1 with 11.89 seconds (-3.0m/s), comfortably ahead of her teammate Shanque Williams- 12.17 seconds (-1.2m/s).

Edwin Allen swept the first three places in Class 2- Renecia Edwards won with 12.29 seconds (-1.8m/s), Akeelia Lewis- 12.44 seconds (-0.7m/s) and Samaria Hodge- 12.58 seconds (-1.8m/s).

Yashieka Sinclair won Class 3 with 12.51 seconds (-1.7m/s), beating teammates Arihanna Brown- 12.63 seconds (-0.7m/s) and Karee Tape- 12.88 seconds (-1.6m/s).

Tessian Daley was the Class 4 winner in 12.91 seconds (0.2m/s), Makaila McDonald, also of Edwin Allen was next with 12.95 seconds (0.3m/s) and Mt Alvernia High’s Veneisha Pottinger was third in 13.06 seconds (-0.1m/s).

Zachary Wallace of Maggotty High took the Class 1 boys 100m in a personal best 10.95 seconds (-1.8m/s), beating St Elizabeth Technical’s Ricoy Hunter- 11.02 seconds (-1.2m/s) and Lacovia High’s Rosean Smith- 11.03 seconds (-1.6m/s).

Cornwall College’s Thomas Daley won Class 2 with 11.05 seconds (-0.8m/s), Edwin Allen’s Orando Pine was second in 11.28 seconds (-0.9m/s) and St Elizabeth Technical’s Rodeeki Walters third in 11.36 seconds.

St Elizabeth Technical’s Ajannie Kelly was the Boys’ Class 3 winner in 11.67 seconds (-03m/s), beating the Edwin Allen High pair of Kalel Archibald- 11.81 seconds (-1.0m/s) and Taheem Thompson- 11.83 seconds (-1.5m/s).

In the field, STETHS’ Hunter won the Class 1 boys’ long jump with a mark of 7.25m (2.0m/s) to beat the Cornwall College pair of O’Brien Bowen 6.85m (4.8m/s) and Kenomar Jones 6.48m 6.0m/s).

Cornwall College’s Marlando Farquharson won the boys’ Class 1 shot put with 16.36m, well ahead of Munro College’s Devonte Edwards- 15.70m and Clarendon College’s Cleon Sewell- 14.10m.

Amiuki Beckford of Cornwall College retained the Class 1 boys’ high jump title with 1.95m beating Herbert Morrison’s Santino Distin who also cleared 1.95m.

Munro College’s Chad Hendricks won the Class 1 discus throw with 53.15m, Clarendon College’s Joseph Salmon was second with 51.61m and Munro College’s Edwards was third with 48.12m.

Javontae Smith of Munro College won the Class 2 boys’ discus throw with 52.07m, well ahead of his teammate Rajeem Streete- 47.80m and Edwin Allen’s Xavier Gayle- 38.16m.

St Elizabeth Technical’s Chloe Palmer won the Class 1 girls’ high jump with 1.60m, beating teammate Richelle Stanley and William Knibb’s Cheyenne Cooper, both of who also got over 1.60m.

Manchester High’s Jahmeka Brown won the Class 2 high jump, also with 1.60m.

Clarendon College’s Athilia Pryce won the Class 1 girls’ shot put with 11.30m, while her teammate Jamelia Young took the Class 2 event with 13.42m.

Edwin Allen’s Dionjah Shaw retained her Class 2 discus title with a throw of 45.09m.
