Scorpions fall to Volcanoes inside three days
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica Scorpions succumbed to a nine-wicket defeat to Windward Islands Volcanoes late on Friday’s third afternoon of the regional four-day match at Sabina Park.
The Volcanoes, set only 53 runs to win, reached 55-1 in their second innings to complete their dominance in the encounter.
Left-handers Jeremy Solozano and Johann Jeremiah were unbeaten on 29 and 22, respectively.
Earlier, the Scorpions resumed from their overnight score of 74-4 and were dismissed for 234.
The Scorpions wicketkeeper Romaine Morris top-scored with a 76-ball 68, while Nkrumah Bonner made 45. Fast bowler Daurius Martin finished with 4-85, while pacer Shamar Springer and off spinner Kenneth Dember took 2-30 and 2-53, respectively.
Chasing a meagre target, the Volcanoes were never worried despite losing Captain Kimani Melius (four) early.
