TLC’s Chilli, actor Matthew Lawrence stop in on The Rock

American singer Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, a member of TLC, one of the best-selling girl groups of all time, and her beau, actor Matthew Lawrence, recently commemorated Lawrence’s birthday at the popular Sharkies Seafood Restaurant in Salem, Runaway Bay, St Ann.

The couple visited the facility on February 9.

While on the island, the couple stayed at Sandals Dunn’s River.

“Hosting celebrities can be a unique experience. When they are down-to-earth and approachable, it often creates a more relaxed atmosphere. Chilli and Matthew Lawrence’s ‘chill’ demeanour made the hosting process smoother, allowing for a more enjoyable and unpretentious dining experience for both them and the restaurant staff,” Adriana “Marsha”’ Rumble, floor supervisor at Sharkies, told the
Jamaica Observer recently.

It was the couple’s first time visiting Sharkies, but Rumble shared that celebrities have often made Sharkies their choice in seafood dining.

“We have had producer Rvssian, American actor Danny Glover, DJ Khaled’s wife Nicole Tuck and her family, rapper Meek Mill, R&B singer Brian McKnight, cricketer Chris Gayle, dancehall artistes Popcaan, Skeng, Valiant, Teejay, and Jada Kingdom as well as singers Beres Hammond and Freddie McGregor are just a few of the many celebrities that we have hosted here at Sharkies.”

Asked what contributed to the frequent visits by celebrities, Rumble said: “Customers often return for our consistently authentic, fresh, and high-quality seafood, a diverse and well-prepared menu, the customer service and the overall positive dining experience.”

Owned by Alwyn Brown, Sharkies Seafood Restaurant has been in existence for 10 years.

The 44-year-old Lawrence is best known for roles in the films Mrs Doubtfire, Money Plane, Double Threat, and The Hot Chick. He also played the role of Danny Carrington, son of Steven and Sammy Jo Carrington on the hit night-time soap, Dynasty. His other television credits include roles in Gimmie a Break, Hawaii Five-O, Brotherly Love, and CSI: Miami.

Chilli, who joined TLC in 1991 (she replaced founding member Crystal Jones), is 52 years old. She once dated American music producer Dallas Austin and R&B singer Usher.

TLC is best known for the hit songs Ain’t 2 Proud 2 Beg, What About Your Friends, Baby-Baby-Baby, Red Light Special, Creep, Waterfalls, and No Scrubs.

The group has sold in excess of 65 million records globally.
