Encouraging debut win by Fearless Attack
Three-year-old bay colt Fearless Attack, owned by Robert Thomas and trained by Jason DaCosta, has entered the race on the road to the Triple Crown after an encouraging debut win at the races on Saturday, March 9, 2024.
Bred by Fearless Vision out of the Storm Craft mare Midnight Hawk, Fearless Attack easily brushed aside competitors by 14 lengths in the $1.05-million maiden condition race for native-bred three-year-olds over 5 furlongs (1,000m) straight.
Fearless Attack won the race in a time of 1:02.1 (23.3 x 47.3) on a common canter.
Ridden by Robert Halledeen, Fearless Attack broke off well at the start of the race and disputed the early lead with Bold Shadow (Jawani Forbes), Battle Angel (Raddesh Roman), and Indestructible (Phillip Parchment).
As the runners sorted themselves out, Bold Shadow emerged as the lone leader approaching the dummy rails. However, with a quick turn of the hoof, Fearless Attack quickly coupled up and sprinted clear of rivals to win comfortably at the wire.
Midnight Galaxy (Ruja Lahoe) ran on strongly in the final stages of the race to get second place, 2 lengths ahead of Bold Shadow in third place.
“The performance was very professional. I mean, he was relaxed in the early part of the race, and when the jockey asked him to run, he quickened up in a short space of time,” DaCosta told the Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide.
“Let’s keep our fingers crossed that he stays sound and healthy, and hopefully when we stretch him out, he will take the distance and hopefully be a Classic horse. His run showed that he might get a distance of ground because he was well relaxed,” he added.
