Skillibeng: Ladies, embrace your sexiness

New single targets female fan base

When dancehall artiste Skillibeng scrubs his social media accounts, one can almost anticipate new material. So, just over a week ago, when the entertainer’s platforms were no longer showing posts from the past, fans eagerly waited for him to drop a new track.

So said, so done.

The St Thomas native, who has been creating waves on the international circuit, is currently promoting his new single, Missbnasty.

Having been inspired by an exotic content creator, Skillibeng says the single is aimed at women who are unashamed of embracing their “sexier side”.

“The inspiration behind the track was actually @missbnasty, a well-known exotic content creator. She is popular on social media platforms, known for showing off her sexy, erotic side. Her name actually came along while creating the rhyme scheme and it came along at a decent part of the song which was undeniably catchy and so I decided to name the song Missbnasty.” he said.

Skillibeng admits that, while the track may be a turn-off for some, his target audience will love it.

“My fans, especially the females, love when I do these types of songs, and I don’t mean from a local point of view only…” he shared. “Others need to catch along. In 2024 it’s okay for women to… embrace their sexiness and I use my music to support those that do.”

The track, which was released on Thursday, March 14, has already amassed more than 370,000 views on YouTube.

Having been signed to RCA Records, an affiliate of Sony Music Entertainment, Skillibeng says his work these days is geared towards establishing himself on the international circuit as he waves the flag high for dancehall culture.

Dubbing himself a musical ambassador, the artiste said he is hoping to represent the black, green and gold in as many territories as possible.

“I do not consider myself a crossover dancehall artiste; I am a Jamaican dancehall superstar. Skillibeng became very international and so I have to represent Jamaica in as many countries as possible. Things have been going great since signing with an international label and there’s bigger things ahead,” he shared, adding that the label has allowed him the creative space to be his authentic self.

New single aside, the entertainer revealed that he has a new collaboration with fast-rising, Grammy-winning South African sensation Tyla.

Speaking on the track, which is featured on Tyla’s début album, Skillibeng said it was a pleasure working with Tyla as he looks forward to the great things she will do.

“The collab came about by Tyla’s team reaching out to my team. It was a blast from there. She’s an incredible talent and I anticipate that she will do great things. She’s already done great things,” he said.
