Mamma Mia expected to rebound in King’s Plate
THE 15th staging of the $1.25-million King’s Plate, a three-year-old and upward Overnight Allowance contest, takes centre stage on Saturday’s 10 race programme.
A field of nine runners are down to compete, going the distance of 7½ furlongs.
Below, the Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide analyses each runner and the chances of winning.
1. MONEY MONSTER : (7 b g by Casual Trick – She’s Traditional) – Finished a good third behind Rhythm Buzz in the Henry Jaghai Memorial Trophy over six furlongs on March 16. Money Monster, based on that run, could once again earn a piece of the pie here.
2.RANI BANGALA: (5 b m by Savoy Stomp – Palace Gold) – Was expected to have say in the Henry Jaghai Memorial Trophy but finished in sixth position by over eight lengths behind Rhythm Buzz. Rani Bangala is of talent and so she is expected to do much better here.
3. PROVOCATIVA (USA): (5 dkb/br m by Protonico – Audacious) – Released the maiden tag over one mile on February 10.
Provocativa won the race by three lengths in a time of 1:42.1.
Provocativa will have to improve on that effort if she is to challenge for a place on the board here.
4.
SWEET MAJESTY
: (6 b m by
Soul Warrior – Bitter End
) – Capable runner but has no form to recommend here.
5.SONNY T AND CHIPPY: (5 b h by Savoy Stomp – Trinket Box) – Consistent runner who has been doing well in his races.
Sonny T and Chippy came home in second position by a length behind Rhythm Buzz over 7½ furlongs on January 21.
Sonny T and Chippy has an excellent chance of winning here.
6.GET A PEPSI: (5 ch h by Blue Pepsi Lodge – Getup Standup) – Was never a factor on February 24 when finishing in seventh place behind KP Choice at six furlongs.
Get A Pepsi is not expected to figure here.
7.REGAL AND ROYAL: (6 b h by Soul Warrior – Wap) – Has no realistic chance of winning this one.
8. ALL FOR LOVE: (4 ch f by Nuclear Wayne – Princess Sallema) – Steps up in grade to compete here.
All For Love is going to be left behind.
9.MAMMA MIA: (4 ch f by Soul Warrior – Princess Geeta) – Disappointed as the favourite in the Henry Jaghai Memorial Trophy over six furlongs on March 16.
Mamma Mia finished in sixth position by some 8½ lengths behind Rhythm Buzz and Wall Street Trader. With a more relaxed pace here and given her fine pace
Mamma Mia is expected to rebound with a win here.
