UPDATE: Policeman shot and killed in St Ann identified
ST ANN, Jamaica – The policeman who was shot and killed in St Ann on Monday night, has been identified as Constable Ricardo Fairclough of the St Ann Divisional Operational Support Unit.
Constable Fairclough was reportedly killed in the line of duty when he responded to a robbery in the parish.

According to reports from the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), at about 8:30 pm, Fairclough was along Bravo Street in St Ann’s Bay when an armed man shot and injured a woman. Fairclough was alerted by the gunfire and went to assist the injured woman.
The gunman reportedly turned his weapon on Fairclough and shot him in the upper body before escaping. The injured policeman and the civilian were assisted to the hospital where Fairclough succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
The injured woman is said to be in critical condition.
In a statement Monday night announcing the Constable’s death, the JCF said the passing of their colleague has left in pain.
“It is indeed a very sad moment for the Jamaica Constabulary Force family. We are numb with pain at our colleagues’ demise,” the statement read in part.
The Force’s Chaplaincy Branch and Welfare Department are providing support to the family and friends of the slain cop.
The organisation went on to express condolences to the family and loved ones of Constable Fairclough.
