Kirk Franklin promises energetic set at Fun in the Son
KINGSTON, Jamaica— Renowned gospel artiste Kirk Franklin is promising a specially tailored set at the Fun in the Son concert on Saturday night at the National Stadium in Kingston.
Speaking to Observer Online upon his arrival at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston on Friday, the Imagine Me singer said patrons are in for a treat.
“Because this is an outside event, I try to curate the music that I think will keep people energetic and excited outside. It’s gonna be a lot of jumping and running around, and I didn’t dress for church; I dressed for outside. I have a lot to do that you haven’t seen me do in 10 years,” he said.
In addition to Franklin, the event will also feature performances from the likes of TobyMac, Kevin Downswell, Jermaine Edwards, Carlene Davis, Petra Kaye, Prince San and many others.
Franklin reiterated that those who plan to attend the free concert will witness a high-energy production.
“I try to process whether the environment is yearning for an energetic and exciting experience to let God know how much we love him. So, that’s what we’re gonna do,” he told Observer Online.
Franklin is best known for leading urban contemporary gospel and Christian R&B ensembles such as The Family, God’s Property and One Nation Crew [1NC] among many others. He has won numerous awards, including 20 Grammy Awards.
