Champion Bubbler a cinch to win Temperence Oaks
With the condition and distance quite suitable to her running style, the Spencer Chung-conditioned Champion Bubbler is expected to lead home rivals in this afternoon’s running of the $1.25-million Temperence Oaks feature race.
American-bred Champion Bubbler is a very consistent kind, having won three times, finished second three times, and ended third once in 12 starts on home turf.
Champion Bubbler was just beaten over the straight (1,000m) course by a neck by
Volatility on March 24, her second race for the season. Now going a furlong and a half (300m) at six-and-a-half furlongs (1,300m),
Champion Bubbler is expected to get up in time when it matters the most.
The Restricted Overnight Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward is positioned as the 10th and final event for the day with a post time of 5:50 pm. First race is at high noon.
Bred by Tapiture out of the Sun King mare Countless, Champion Bubbler has been well prepared by her trainer for this race. The five-year-old bay filly has worked five furlongs in 1:02.1, with the first four furlongs (800m) done in 48.3 on April 9, showing she is in good form.
Her last gallop coming into this race was on Tuesday, April 23 when she clocked 1:03.2 for five furlongs. With those two decent gallops, Champion Bubbler is going to take a lot of beating here. Champion jockey Reyan Lewis is to ride.
All For Love, Get A Pepsi, and Sunset Silhoutte appear to be Champion Bubbler’s sole opponents here.
All For Love has competed at this level twice before, finishing third both times. Her recent effort was on April 13 over nine furlongs and 25 yards (1,820m) when she finished 4 ½ lengths behind Sonny T, Chippy, and Sunset Silhoutte. The Gary Subratie trainee should be on the premises once more.
Get A Pepsi, on the other hand, has raced eight times at this level. Although she has not won a race in those outings, Get A Pepsi finished in second place twice and in third place twice as well. Based on consistency, she has a shot of winning.
Sunset Silhoutte might prefer this race a bit longer, but she is very fit at the moment and could run down these. Sunset Silhoutte finished a close third, beaten just by half-length by
Tekapunt and Rainsville at this distance on October 29, 2023. If she can reproduce that effort, then a winning run could well be on the cards.
