England opt to bowl against West Indies T20 clash
GROS-ISLET, Saint Lucia (AFP) — England captain Jos Buttler won the toss and opted to bowl first in their T20 World Cup Super Eight Group 2 match against West Indies on Wednesday.
Defending champions England scraped into the Super Eight by finishing second in Group B behind Australia after an uneven performance in the first round.
West Indies meanwhile cruised into the Super Eight with a 100 percent record, winning all of their games in Group C.
Wednesday’s game at the Daren Sammy National Stadium in St. Lucia is a clash of two-time former champions.
England won the T20 crown in 2010 and 2022, while West Indies lifted the title in 2012 and 2016.
