Racing United, Chapelton qualify for JPL
Racing United qualified for their first Jamaica Premier League while Chapelton Maroons made a swift return, after they qualified for the finals of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) Championships last weekend.
Despite being beaten 1-0 by former Premier League champions Reno FC in their return leg semi-finals played at Llandilo on Sunday, Racing United advanced with a 2-1 aggregate after winning the first leg 2-0, while Chapelton Maroons advanced ahead of Tru-Juice FC with a 4-2 aggregate after back-to-back 2-1 wins.
The final and consolation games will be played this weekend at the JFF/Captain Horace Burrell Centre of Excellence in Kingston.
Tru Juice FC and Reno FC will meet in the third place play-off in the first game followed by the final between Chapelton Maroons and Racing United.
On Sunday, Jeremy Coke scored for Reno FC in the 10th minute but they failed to get a second goal that could have pushed the game into extra-time to decide a winner.
At Turner’s Oval in Clarendon, the home team Chapelton Maroons, all but secured their spot when they led 1-0 after the 31st minute when Osani Ricketts scored to give them a 3-1 lead on aggregate.
Leaunghn Williams made it 4-1 in the 84th minute before Seivon Thompson scored a consolation for Tru Juice who were losing in back-to-back semi-finals.
