KINGSTON, Jamaica – The National Under-17 Reggae Boyz are set to participate in two international friendly matches in New York.

The first match will see the young Reggae Boyz face off against Griffin USA U-17 on July 27, 2024, at the stadium at Memorial Field at 7:00 pm. Following this, they will take on World Class Football U-17 on July 31, 2024, at the Orange Sports Complex at 7:30 pm.

According to a release from the Jamaica Football Federation on Wednesday, the Games will serve as crucial preparation for the upcoming U-17 World Cup qualifiers scheduled to begin in February 2025.

The squad comprises a talented mix of 13 local-based players and 13 overseas-based players, reflecting the team’s commitment to excellence and diversity. The coaching staff revealed that it has spared no effort in preparing the team, having conducted 13 intensive training camps in both Jamaica and South Florida over the last six months.

Head coach of the young Reggae Boyz, Altimont ‘Freddy Butler’, emphasised the significance of these matches in honing the team’s skills and coordination.

“These matches are a crucial part of our preparation for the Under-17 World Cup qualifiers. We are taking this opportunity seriously, and we expect our team to perform exceptionally well in these matches and carry that momentum into the qualifiers. Our ultimate goal is to qualify for the World Cup, and we are leaving no stone unturned in our pursuit of that goal.”

The Young Reggae Boyz will depart the island on Thursday, July 25.
