Barbados passport still most powerful in Caribbean region

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (CMC) – Barbados continues to hold onto the top spot as the most powerful passport in the Caribbean region, according to data from the latest 2024 Henley Passport Index.

The 2024 Henley Passport Index published earlier this month, states that Barbados is positioned globally at number 20 – up from 22 in January and with a visa-free score of 165.

Following Barbados is The Bahamas, ranking globally at 21— up from 24 — with visa-free access to 161 destinations.

In third place is St Kitts and Nevis, moving up from 25th place on the list to 23. Holders of a passport from the twin island federation, have visa free access to 157 destinations.

The Jamaican passport is ranked globally at 55 with visa-free access to 89 destinations.

St Vincent and the Grenadines ranking globally at 23 with visa-free access to 157, Antigua and Barbuda-ranking globally at 26 with visa-free access to 153 destinations and Trinidad and Tobago with a global at 27 moving from 29 place with visa-free access to 151 destinations all placed higher than Jamaica.

The most powerful passport in the world belongs to Singapore, which has visa-free access to 195 destinations, while the least powerful passport in the world belongs to Afghanistan.
