19-y-o alleged gang member on murder, firearm charges
KINGSTON, Jamaica— A 19-year-old alleged gang member has been slapped with several charges including murder by the police in West Kingston.
Rohan Tomlinson, otherwise called ‘Popsie’, from Bentley Lane in Kingston 12, is charged with murder, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorised possession of ammunition and using a firearm to commit a felony.
Police alleged that Tomlinson is a member of the notorious Bentley Lane gang in Rose Town and is being investigated for gang-related offences.
Tomlinson is charged with the killing of 37-year-old Marlon Johnson, otherwise called ‘Mega’, from Maxfield Avenue, Kingston 13.
The police disclosed that Johnson was attacked and sprayed with bullets on the night of Friday, May 17, 2024, on Lamont Lane in Rose Town.
It was reported that around 8:40 pm, Johnson was heading home when he was pounced upon by men armed with guns. The men opened fire, hitting him several times in the face, head and back before fleeing.
Police were quick on the scene and assisted Johnson to the Kingston Public Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. The police said 13 spent casings were found at the shooting scene.
