Chinnaman connection
Former striker Ronaldo Brown’s label makes début with Stock Chips rhythm
Former Jamaica College Manning Cup striker Ronaldo Brown has always had a passion for music. That passion has been fuelled by his desire to help up-and-coming artistes by giving them the opportunity to showcase their musical talent, while providing them with guidance.
“I bring a lot to the table, especially by giving young artistes the opportunity to be highlighted. There are producers out there who don’t believe in real talent, and it’s not easy getting the opportunity to showcase talent. That is my main focus, and that’s what I’m putting on the table, just by giving them an opportunity,” said Brown.
He continued: “…I’m willing to make the sacrifice for any talented young artiste to work with and to put on my platform. I’m here to invest in their careers, get their videos done, and to promote their songs to the highest level.”
A little under a year ago Brown started his label Chinnaman Records. His first full-length rhythm project, titled Stock Chips rhythm, a co-production with Streets Blocks Records, will be released in a matter of weeks.
As a precursor to the various artistes project, the song Fritos Lay by deejay Raw Cashh, arguably one of the hottest dancehall acts out of Manchester, was scheduled for release on February 7.
The recent collaboration with Raw Cashh marks the fifth time that Brown has collaborated with the deejay.
“It’s been a pleasure working with Raw Cashh. He was the one who believed in me and gave me the first big hit, Charge Raise. That was my first official song released, and it has gone over a million views on
YouTube since its release. It has been more like family working with Raw Cashh, because outside of music, he is like a brother to me in the music business,” said Brown.
Chinnaman Records previously collaborated with Raw Cashh on the song Fawkliff, a co-production between TroubleMekka Music, which has racked up more than 731,000 views on YouTube since its release last October. Extradite, a co-production with Brainfreeze Records released in September 2024, has over 453,000 views, while Da Life Ya, released last November, has over 465,000 views.
The Stock Chips rhythm also features songs by up-and-coming acts Bito, Rushawn, Grimy Don, and Abblo as well as Tommy Lee Sparta.
The producer is also gearing up to release a separate project featuring dancehall artistes Jahshii and a collaboration between Tommy Lee Sparta and Skeng.
After leaving Jamaica College, Brown earned an associate degree from the Northeast Texas Community College in the United States. He also has a bachelor in sociology.
His musical journey has been assisted with advice and guidance from some well-known names from the music fraternity, including producers Brainfreeze and DJ Mac.
