Cocktails With

SO catches up over cocktails with Lexi Chow, media executive and CEO/founder of CODA Network, a Caribbean-centric streaming platform dedicated to showcasing movies, TV shows, documentaries, and live events that bring its rich culture to the world.

Beyond CODA, she’s also the conceptualiser of Jamaican Women Leading Hollywood Honors, a gala for women in film held in Los Angeles that highlights Caribbean excellence in the industry. She’s also a human rights advocate, committed to championing diversity, representation, and opportunities for underrepresented voices.

You have spent Christmas and ushered in the new year in Jamaica. What have been a few highlights?

Yes! I love spending time in Jamaica on holiday, especially new year on the coastline of Negril. Not to mention the sweet and savoury smells of pudding and Christmas dinner! The highlight is jumping off the cliffs at Rockhouse. There’s a liberating feeling in surrendering to the ocean.

Did you have enough clothes or did you have

I can never have enough clothes! I love supporting local boutiques when I am in Jamaica — they’re hidden gems. There’s something special about saying “I bought this piece in Jamaica” and discovering unique pieces no one else has and complementing it with your style.

We’re raising a toast to life. What are you drinking?

An Appleton Estate Daiquiri.

What do you like about this particular cocktail?

It’s a sophisticated, elegant cocktail — perfect for a refined lady who enjoys a feminine and subtly graceful way to drink rum.

What’s on the front burner for 2025?

I break my year up into quarters. For Q1 2025, and ongoing, my focus is strengthening CODA’s positioning in the market, developing and exploring new content. I’m also dedicated to supporting aspiring film students through philanthropic efforts, helping them gain a deeper understanding of the diverse roles available in the film and TV industry.

Were you a colour which one would it be and why?

I’m drawn to Pantone’s jet black — it embodies power, elegance, and sophistication. My home design reflects this with a sleek black-and-white palette, accented by bold green plants. I thrive in this minimalist environment; too many colours in a space leave me feeling discombobulated.

How would you describe your sense of style?

I like quiet luxury aka investment pieces that are timeless that I can mix and match over any decade. My style is sophisticated, feminine and sexy. I love an understated “statement piece” hence quiet luxury.

What’s in the Gucci?

Caudalie Hand & Nail Repairing Cream, Caudalie Moisturizing Oil Elixir, lipbalm and Hour Glass lipgloss

Which celebrity closet do you wish you could raid?

The Queen Naomi Campbell!

As much as I admire the boldness of the micro brief look, I don’t feel it has the timeless quality that I typically gravitate toward. While it’s definitely an eye-catching trend, I personally lean toward styles that have a lasting, classic appeal that can be worn in various settings and seasons.

Where’s your favourite shopping destination?

I’m obsessed with Soho, NY, all the fashion houses are there! There’s nothing like walking those cobblestone streets, whether summer or winter, being welcomed with a glass of champs, and working with stylists who just get my vibe.

Netflix or an evening out?

Evening out, no question! I’m not a couch potato — I live for the vibe, the energy, and the real-life ambiance.

Which country or countries are on your 2025 travel itinerary?

South Africa

France

South America

Dubai

Which song is currently playing in your head?

Good Good

21 Savage, Summer Walker and Usher

Last book read…

Does the Bible count?

Finally, what’s your personal credo?

Fear of failure = the failure to launch. You can’t move forward if you’re too afraid to take that first step.
