Deno Crazy anchors new Jussbuss series ‘Weh Yuh Know Bout Dancehall’

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Magnum Tonic Wine has been associated with dancehall music and Jamaican culture for several years. The brand has thrown its muscle behind Magnum Kings & Queens of Dancehall as well as the Magnum Top Performa talent series in the past.

Last Friday night, Jussbuss TV premiered its latest project, Weh Yuh Know Bout Dancehall, a series which made its premiere on Television Jamaica (TVJ), which is a collaboration with Magnum Tonic Wine.

The series is hosted by comedian and actor Deno Crazy.

In an interview with Observer Online, the show’s producers gave an insight into the series.

“Weh Yuh Know Bout Dancehall was created to celebrate our culture by testing the knowledge of dancehall fans, giving them a fun and engaging platform to showcase how much they really know about the culture. The show blends entertainment, education, and competition, reinforcing dancehall’s deep roots in Jamaica’s history while making it exciting for both participants and viewers. Our goal is to highlight dancehall’s impact, engage the streets, and bring the culture to a wider audience in a fun new and interactive way,” Andrew Jackson, a producer of the series, told Observer Online on Monday.

According to Johnathan Newman, another of the producers, when they reached out to TVJ, the reception was positive.

“TVJ was incredibly supportive and enthusiastic about the concept from the start. Having partnered with them for over 10 years distributing our JB Acoustic series, it was easy for them to understand the importance of dancehall as a cornerstone of Jamaican culture and see the potential in a new comedy-based trivia show that brings the music and its fans to the forefront. Their team has been very accommodating, supportive and flexible, ensuring that Weh Yuh Know Bout Dancehall gets the platform it deserves, reaching a national audience with prime-time scheduling and high-quality production,” Newman disclosed.

Asked why Deno Crazy was chosen as the host of the series, Pierce McLean, another producer, explained the decision.

“Deno Crazy was the perfect choice as host because of his infectious energy, natural comedic timing, and deep connection to dancehall culture. As a social media personality and entertainer, he has a strong following and understands how to keep audiences engaged. His ability to mix humour with dancehall knowledge makes him a relatable and exciting host, helping to bring out the best in contestants while keeping the show entertaining for viewers,” said McLean, who also described working with Magnum, as a natural fit.

“Partnering with Magnum has been a natural fit because of their long-standing commitment to dancehall culture and entertainment. Magnum has been consistently championing Dancehall – supporting Jamaican music, events, and artists, so collaborating on Weh Yuh Know Bout Dancehall was a seamless alignment. Their involvement as the main partners of this show has been integral, helping to elevate the production, bringing more visibility to the show and providing the right branding and energy to match dancehall’s vibrant and rebellious spirit. Working with them has been a true partnership, and we appreciate their dedication to championing and pushing the culture forward,” said McLean.

According to Magnum Tonic Wine’s Brand Manager, Brandon Wallace, who laid down the mission, “We’re not just a brand, we’re deeply committed to supporting and elevating the talent that pushes this incredible culture forward. When the team from Jussbuss brought this exciting new initiative to us, it was an easy decision. Weh Yuh Know Bout Dancehall isn’t just about entertainment’ it’s an educational platform that allows both Magnum and Jussbuss to grow, while shining a spotlight on the heart of dancehall.”

Weh Yuh Know Bout Dancehall airs Fridays at 9:30pm with a repeat on Mondays at 1:30 pm The series features approximately 12 episodes, culminating in a highly anticipated finale Friday, May 9.
