My Kingston

Andrae Artwell

World-Class Jeweller, Founder and Owner of Artwell and Co Fine Jewellery and Piercings Ltd

Style Observer (SO): How would you describe your company?

Andrae Artwell (AA): The company Artwell and Co is a luxury jewellery brand that crafts exquisite pieces. We believe that jewellery should be a reflection of your personal style and that’s what we create.

SO: Why jewellery?

AA: Jewellery is the perfect way in which I’m able to express myself. It allows me to be creative with each piece knowing there’s no limit or boundary. I’m my best self whenever a client shines

SO: When and how did you start?

AA: I started out in 2016 doing piercings and selling body jewellery. From there it’s been growth and no going back.

SO: What was your worst business experience?

AA: Having the wrong business partners, which resulted in making the wrong decision.

SO: And conversely, your best?

AA: The best experience as a jeweller or in the jewellery business is receiving a level of satisfaction from a customer/client.

SO: You have kept in touch with and indeed given back to your alma mater, St Catherine High. What was the most impactful lesson gleaned from that institution?

AA: The most impactful lesson I’ve learnt is: It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish.

SO: How important is it to give back to your country and school?

AA: Giving back to my country and school is very important. It gives a sense of fulfilment and connection to something larger than myself.

SO: What gives your business the competitive advantage?

AA: We specialise in personalised jewellery, a growing trend in today’s market, combining our expertise in jewellery manufacturing with a commitment to high-quality, high-end, and uniquely designed pieces. By maintaining exceptional craftsmanship while keeping our prices accessible, we make luxury jewellery more attainable without compromising on elegance or exclusivity.

SO: What is the fascination with gemstones?

AA: The colours, patterns and beauty of gemstones are fascinating! It’s so rare and exclusive but has a big impact on people, providing emotional connection.

SO: What is the preferred piece of jewellery for today’s woman?

AA: Most females prefer dainty jewellery. So a simple diamond necklace or earrings will do.

SO: And for the men?

AA: Most males prefer a statement piece which oftentimes is a nice watch or chain and pendant.

SO: What’s your favourite piece of jewellery?

AA: My personal Jamaica pendant is my favourite piece of jewellery.

SO: Surround sound or live music?

AA: Live music.

SO: How would you describe your personal style?

AA: I like to bling, so from my head to my feet has to have a spark.

SO: Driving to the country, what’s on your playlist?

AA: Soul or 2000s R&B is a good listen.

SO: Netflix and chill or a night on the town?

AA: Instagram and chill.

SO: Cheers! What are you drinking?

AA: Rare Old Fashioned made with Appleton Estate 12 year old

SO:Finally, what’s your personal credo?

AA: Stay focused! All gas, no brakes!
