Mobil unleashes new coolant line-up

IMCA Jamaica Limited unveiled its new line of automotive and commercial coolant products at the Mobil Coolants Unleashed event, held on Thursday, April 10.

“Our retail customers have been asking for coolant products for passenger vehicles. Previously we only had a commercial coolant products, so we did the research within the Mobil brand and opted to bring those three products to the local market for the first time,” Shelly-Ann McLaggan, commercial manager, IMCA, told the Jamaica Observer’s weekly
Auto magazine at her Spanish Town Road headquarters.

IMCA launched Mobil Permazone, Mobil Delvac Extended Life 50/50, and Mobil Heavy Duty SCA Precharged.

“All three are high-quality products at affordable prices packed with the advanced technology Mobil is known for,” said McLaggan.

Permazone is aimed at passenger vehicles, everyday users, and light-duty equipment.

Heavy Duty SCA Precharged is as the name states, for the heavy-duty vehicles used in commercial and industrial applications.

Delvac Extended Life 50/50 has been formulated to operate in a wide variety of applications, from passenger cars to commercial and industrial machinery.

In their presentation, Gemar Brown, lubrication engineer and industrial sales consultant, IMCA, addressed some of the myths on the market in regards to coolant.

Unlike engine oil, which is traditionally changed in more frequent intervals, Brown explained that coolant has a much lower profile in the minds of the average motorist despite the temperature demands in current modern engines.

One such myth they hope to tackle is the oil-based versus water-based argument. All three of the products, as modern coolants, use a glycol base due to its ability to provide superior cooling and anti-corrosion performance inside an engine. Mobil then puts in its respective additives to create a formulation that further boosts the behaviour of each product in its application. Permazone, Delvac Extended Life 50/50, and Heavy Duty SCA Precharged all meet or exceed multiple standard industrial coolant specifications.

“Our retail network has had excellent response to these products, and I’m sure those who do choose any of these Mobil coolants will be more than satisfied,” said McLaggan.
