KC’s Kiprop off to US college
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Following another outstanding year for Kingston College (KC), Kenya’s Brian Kiprop bids farewell and will be taking up a scholarship at the Indian Hills Community College.
Kiprop, who won the Class One 1500m and the 2000m steeplechase for the last two years, posted on Instagram, “As I reflect on the past four years, I am filled with gratitude for the incredible journey I’ve had at Kingston College.”
“This place has been more than just a home; it’s been a source of growth, strength and inspiration,” he added.
Kiprop, who started at KC in 2022, where he made the Class Two semi-final of the 800m and was second in the 1500m. In his second year, Class Two, in 2023, he won the 1500m and was second in the 5000m open to his teammate Ethan Gioko, also of Kenya.
That’s the last race he lost, as Kiprop then won the 1500m and 2000m steeplechase double twice in Class One in 2024 and 2025.
He left Champs with some memorable races, none more so than his victory in the 1500m in March, where he chased his fellow Kenyan Ryan Achau of St Jago before winning in 3:55.24.
“Every moment, every challenge and every victory has shaped me into the person I am today,” Kiprop wrote on Instagram.
“Now, as I step into a new chapter, I carry with me the lessons, memories and love that have been part of this amazing journey at KC,” he added.
“While it’s time to begin something new, I will always treasure the time spent here and the experiences. Fortis now, Fortis forever,” Kiprop ended his message.
Meanwhile, Indian Hills College posted on its Instagram page, “Welcome Brian Kiprop to Warrior Nation.”
Kiprop will join Jamaicans Nicholas Powers, Jaquan Coke and Kemarrio Bygrave.
