Laden, Real Quenga Records reap success

PRODUCER and founder of Real Quenga Records RayJohn Cameron has achieved another milestone in his career with the success of the track Money & Gyal by dancehall artiste Laden.

The Oracabessa, St Mary native, who is now based in Atlanta, Georgia, noted that this is the beginning of a fruitful working relationship with the deejay.

“It was great working with Laden, there was no problem and no bad communication. I’m ready to work with him again; more projects [are] coming soon,” Cameron told the Jamaica Observer.

The track, which was released on April 13, has already amassed close to 50,000 views on YouTube.

“This track from Laden, Money & Gyal, is a big impact right now. I’ve gained more followers, and a lot more young artistes want to work with me. Look out for some big names,” the producer added.

Real Quenga Records was founded in 2022, after Cameron decided to follow his childhood dream to pursue a career in music. He has partnered with fellow producer Stylo of Stylo Down To Earth Records to work with other acts such as Capleton, Ffurious, Navino, Sesser, Najhymn and many others.

In the meantime, Laden is also pretty pleased with the production house and praised how organically the project came together.

“Working with Real Quenga Records is pretty much easy. I’ve known him for a while now; we’re like family. He sent me the rhythm and explained the type of vibe he wanted from it and I delivered. He liked it, and it’s doing well so far,” he said.

The deejay, whose given name is O’keefe Aarons, is popularly known for tracks like Time To Shine and more recently Uno Dos Tres, which has also gained momentum, even garnering rave reviews from Vybz Kartel.

He is encouraging emerging entertainers to remain persistent in their quest for success.

“Love what you do and just do your best at all times because it’s a very competitive industry. You have so many talents out there who want to get the break — they’re working hard — so, just continue to do what you do best and make sure you’re talented. Work on your craft everyday,” Laden advised.
