Corinaldi Avenue among three through to VMF U-13 quarter-finals
THREE schools, led by two-time defending champions Corinaldi Avenue Primary and last year’s finalists Barracks Road Primary, have confirmed their places in the quarter-finals of the St James Football Association/Victoria Mutual Foundation Under-13 competition.
Corinaldi Avenue Primary in Zone A, Barracks Road Primary in Zone B, and Albion Primary in Zone C, have all won their first four games and are assured of a place in the next round, while three teams are still in the race from Zone D.
Corinaldi Avenue and Albion Primary are yet to concede a goal while scoring 24 in their four games so far while Barracks Road have allowed just two.
On Friday former winners Chetwood Primary took over the lead in Zone D following a 7-0 beating of Goodwill Primary in the second game played at WesPow Park, after Anchovy Primary blanked Lethe Primary 2-0 in the opening game.
Chetwood Primary improved to nine points from their four games as Kevin Porter led the way with a brace, while Tyquan Davis, Anthony McFarlane, Tevaughn Jarrett, Usher McDonald and Kenique Little also got on the scorecard.
Anchovy Primary are in third place on seven points, same as second-placed Flankers Primary, after goals from Jabari Graham in the fifth minute and Thomicka Needham in the 16th minute saw them get by Lethe Primary who were losing their fourth-straight game.
On Thursday, Somerton Primary and Green Pond Primary played out a 1-1 draw in their Zone A game while Granville Primary were 4-0 winners over Glendevon Primary in Zone C.
