Corinaldi on course for three straight in St James FA U-13s
Corinaldi Avenue Primary remained on course for an unprecedented third-straight St James Football Association/Victoria Mutual Foundation Under-13 title after beating arch rivals Barracks Road Primary 1-0 in their semi-final game played at WesPow Park on Tuesday.
Corinaldi, who are unbeaten dating back to last season, were winning their seventh straight game this season and are yet to concede a goal.
Corinaldi Avenue will meet Chetwood Primary in the final on Tuesday. Chetwood prevailed 4-3 on penalties against Howard Cooke Primary after they played out a 0-0 stalemate in regulation and extra time.
Riomario Powell scored the winner for Corinaldi Avenue, heading a cross past goalkeeper Dandre Atkins in the 42nd minute.
It was the second season Corinaldi Avenue were eliminating Barracks Road after beating them in the final last year.
In the second game, Chetwood struggled in regulation for the second straight game as they head beaten Fairfield International Academy in extra time in the previous round.
On Tuesday, both teams failed to break down each other, forcing penalty kicks for which they both missed their first attempts.
Chetwood then scored their next four tries, and Howard Cooke scored three before Chetwood’s goalkeeper Shavon Anderson blocked Howard Cooke’s Jaheim Walker’s shot.
