WATCH: Jah Vinci excites athletes at Racers Grand Prix reception
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Double 7 Energy Drink brand ambassador, dancehall artiste Jah Vinci turned up the thrills and reeled off some of his popular hits at Friday night’s Racers Grand Prix reception for athletes who will be participating in Saturday’s Racers Grand Prix event at the National Stadium.
The reception, which took place at the Pegasus hotel, saw several local, regional and international athletes in attendance.
“It’s a great joy to be performing for these athletes who are out there doing their thing, representing their country and seeing their growth. Mi just hope that they can find some motivation inna di sport and perform at their best on the field. Mi really happy fi deh ya tonight,” Jah Vinci told Observer Online.
The singer reeled off Virgin, Guide Me, Watch Yuh Friends and Scream, among other songs, much to the delight of those in attendance.
The artiste said he has new music on the way.
“A whole heap a new song, new video ago drop. Mi like when di ting dem drop and people are surprised so mi naw go too give much information right now,” he said.
Double 7 Energy Drink is an official sponsor of the Racers Grand Prix, and brand manager Bobette Bolton told Observer Online that the brand’s support of athletes was natural.
“Well of course you know that Double 7 is the energy behind Racers Grand Prix and the best way we can do that is to get on board early at their welcome reception, showing them (the athletes) that we are here to support them, giving them that energy that they are going to need to perform at their utmost on Saturday,” said Bolton.
She added, “Jamaica has the best athletes, the best opportunities and the best coaches, and we value them, we welcome them, and we celebrate them at an event like the Racers Grand Prix. A lot of these athletes are among the top ten in the world in their respective fields, so this is something that we need to treasure and highlight.”
