Classics in June is 20
The Kingston Chapter of Soroptimist International Jamaica will stage its annual Classics in June concert on Father’s Day, June 15, 2025 at the University Chapel, Mona, beginning at 5:00 pm.
The concert, now in its 20th year, will be under the patronage of Olivier Guyonvarch, ambassador of France to Jamaica and his wife, Madame Boulie Jeong.
This year’s concert will feature talented artistes such as Christine MacDonald Nevers, voice; Steven Woodham, violin; Shawn Richards, classical guitar; Yanique Leiba-Ebanks, piano; Gabriel Walters, violin; Laurice Barnaby, flute; Allison Wallace, piano; Loraine Barnaby, dance; and Stephen Shaw-Naar, piano.
The club will also use the opportunity to launch the Joyce Byles Memorial Fund in honour of the honorary life member, past president, and long-standing member of the Classics in June Planning Committee.
The concert has been a major fund-raiser for the Kingston Chapter of the Soroptimist International Club of Jamaica (SIJK). Since the start of the series, the SIJK has been able to donate from proceeds of the concert to a number of institutions working with children. This year the beneficiaries are Reddie’s Children’s Home and Shortwood United Church Early Childhood Development Centre.
Classics in June 2025 is sponsored by Kingston Freeport Terminal Ltd, Nationwide News Network, Orijin, The Treatment Room, National Commercial Bank, the CHASE Fund, and Vinci Construction Grands ProJet’s.
