Caribbean culture to be celebrated at Mikey Sparkle Family Fun Day in Atlanta
KINGSTON, Jamaica — After 15 years of staging his annual Mikey Sparkle Family Fun Day in Atlanta, Georgia, organiser Mikey Sparkle says the event continues to grow, while achieving its initial objectives of ensuring patrons have a good time.
“I am looking forward to another successful staging of the fun day this year. We are doing everything to ensure that our patrons will have another wonderful experience this year. I’ve been hosting this event for over 15 years now and it has grown and evolved since then,” Mikey Sparkle told Observer Online recently.
This year’s staging takes place on Sunday, June 15 at the Lithonia Ampitheatre in Lithonia, Georgia.
The event started out as a small community gathering and has grown into one of the most anticipated Caribbean family events in Georgia.
“We wanted to bring families together while celebrating Caribbean culture and those we have achieved. My biggest motivation is seeing the parents bringing out their children to have fun and enjoying themselves each year,” shared Sparkle.
Aside from a Kidz Corner which will exclusively entertain the young at heart, the adults are in for a treat with performances by reggae singer and LUST member Lukie D and hip-hop artiste Mr Cheeks, best known for the gold-certified hit Lights Camera Action.
“The Kidz Corner will feature a host of activities for the children, including bounce about, face painting, potato sack race, miniature golf, and a dance contest. There will be lots of prizes and surprises for the children. The entertainment package will also include performances from comedian Lemon and singer/selector Mark Dragon of Innercity Sound,” Mikey Sparkle disclosed.
Recorded music will be provided by Steely Bashment, DJ Bre Bre, Bugsy Bam Bam, DJ Cold Rice and DJ Pampi.
Mikey Sparkle, who also promotes Jamaican plays in the Atlanta area, is originally from Kingston. He migrated to the United States more than 30 years ago.
