Man in viral video killing granted $2m bail
KINGSTON, Jamaica—A man charged after he was caught on video shooting another man was granted bail in the sum of $2 million in the Corporate Area Parish Court on Thursday.
Ishmael Davis, 52, was ordered to surrender his travel documents and report to the police.
Davis is to return to court on July 14, 2025. A stop order was also imposed.
Davis, a Jamaica Public Service Company employee, is charged with killing 57-year-old Norris Farquharson, a construction worker.
Allegations are that around 7:10 am on Tuesday, May 27, there was an argument in the community between the two men.
During the argument, Davis used his licensed firearm and shot Farquharson twice in the head. The incident was captured on CCTV.
Davis’s attorneys-at-law, Peter Champagnie KC and Samoi Campbell, presented other videos of the incident from other angles, different from the one which had gone viral on social media.
Those videos suggested that at the time of the incident, Davis was acting in self-defence as Farquharson could be seen pulling an item from his waistband.
A knife was also recovered from the scene.
