Over 1,000 pounds of ganja seized in St Mary

ST MARY, Jamaica — Authorities seized over 1,000 pounds of compressed ganja during a major drug bust in Rio Nuevo, St Mary on Saturday.

According to the Port Maria police, the seizure was made around 10:00 pm during an intelligence-driven operation conducted by the Firearm and Narcotics Investigation Division (FNID).

During the operation, officers discovered a Nissan Caravan motor vehicle which was subsequently searched. Inside the vehicle, police found 37 bags filled with compressed ganja totalling approximately 1,200 pounds along with four large barrels of gasoline. The contraband was confiscated.

No arrests have been made in connection with the discovery.
