Five-star Manchester High, others race to three straight wins in daCosta Cup

Jevohntae Gordon scored a hattrick as Manchester High beat May Day High 5-0 in their ISSA daCosta Cup Zone F game at Manchester High in Mandeville as they raced to a third straight win.

Michael Reid and Deante Walker also scored in the game as Manchester High have now scored 16 goals in their three games while yet to concede and increased their lead in the group.

Alphansus Davis High, Christiana High, Maldon High and Ocho Rios also won a third straight while former champions Rusea’s High and Frome Technical were both held to 1-1 draws in their Zone B games after they had won their first two.

Alphansus Davis High blanked Alston High 4-0 with Fankie Derby scoring a double and Devaughn Higgins and Devoy Johnson also getting on the score sheet while Christiana High edged Bellefield High 1-0 as both stayed locked in the lead in Zone G on nine points each.

Ocho Rios High scored a big 8-0 win over Discovery Bay High to stay on top of the tables in Zone K.

Maldon High extended their perfect winning run by hammering Herbert Morrison Technical 5-0 as they rushed to nine points, their best start ever.

Meanwhile, defending champions Garvey Maceo Technical and Glenmuir High scored back-to-back wins over Vere Technical and Denbigh High respectively in Zone I.

Garvey Maceo High won 2-1 with Omarion O’Brian scoring in the seventh minute and Daniel Scott in the 38th minute while Dushane Dennis scored for Vere Technical in the 62nd minute.

Glenmuir High followed up their 13-0 win over Bustamante High on Wednesday with a 3-0 win over Denbigh High.

Bustamante High meanwhile rebounded from their lopsided loss to beat Winston Jones High 3-0.

Alex Hutton scored both goals as William Knibb Memorial edged Spot Valley High 2-1 to run their record to two straight wins after beating Troy High in midweek.

Old Harbour High also won back-to-back games, edging Dinthill Technical 1-0 in their Zone J game to join McGrath High on six points.

At Jarrett Park, Wayne Mullings gave Frome Tech the lead in the 36th minute but Cambridge High salvaged a point after Jayr Moore buried a penalty in the 89th minute.

Rusea’s High were also held to a 1-1 draw away to Green Island High.

Carlondo Morris got his second hattrick of the season as Cornwall College beat Irwin High 7-0 as the former champions rebounded from their mid-week 0-0 draw against St James High.

Nickane Brown also scored two goals, Mekhi Foster scored one with the other coming from an own goal.

Ben Francis Cup holders St Elizabeth Technical were held to a 0-0 draw for the second straight game, held at home by BB Coke High who had won their first two games.
