Zone I play-offs start in ISSA daCosta Cup

ST JAMES, Jamaica – The play-offs in Zone I of the ISSA daCosta Cup football competition starts Thursday, two days after the end of the regular season, as the race for places in the Round of 32 heats up.

Zone I leaders Glenmuir High will play away to Kemps Hill High who they had beaten 3-0 on Saturday, and defending champions Garvey Maceo Tech will host Denbigh High as they seek to rebound from their first loss of the season on Tuesday, when they were beaten 4-0 by Glenmuir High.

The top three teams from the three play-off zones will qualify for the second round.
Also on Thursday, the race for second place in Zone F continues with the main contenders Belair High, who are in second place on 15 points from seven games, playing away to third-placed May Day High on 10 points from six games, meeting in a rescheduled first round game.

A win for Belair High would give them an edge to join Manchester High who could also be declared zone winners today, if Belair High fails to record a win.

Yallahs High and Morant Bay High, separated by goal-difference, on six points each in Zone L, behind leaders Paul Bogle High, will meet in a crucial game.

Yallahs High had won the first meeting 3-2 and has a slight edge in the tables over Morant Bay High.
