Police warn public against hiding missing children amid Jayden Smith disappearance
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — The Manchester police are warning members of the public that it is an offence to conceal the whereabouts and/ or hide missing children amid the ongoing search for 12-year-old Jayden Smith.
Crime officer for Manchester Deputy Superintendent Dennis Simpson told journalists that if anyone is hiding the child, it is an offence.
Simpson was speaking to the media during a search of Jayden’s family home and the surrounding area in Wales, Newport, Manchester on Friday morning.
His guardians, Ann-Marie Thompson and Omar Thompson, said they have been affected by constant rumours and speculations surrounding Jayden’s disappearance with threats being made against them.
Members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Specialised Operations, canine unit, missing person’s desk, Newport police, among others combed the area. However, Jayden is yet to be found.
