Seven schools, including former champions St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) and Glenmuir High, as well as first-time qualifiers Maldon High, have book their places in the Round of 16 in the ISSA daCosta Cup football competition by scoring back-to-back wins in the Round of 32 on Wednesday.

Mannings School and Christiana High from Group 3, as well as Manchester High from Group 5, and McGrath High from Group 8 are also safely through to the next round.

Shamar Stewart scored for times for STETHS in their 6-1 win over Ferncourt High at Drax Hall, with Kaieem Lewis also contributing a double.

They will be joined by Maldon High, who have only made it past the first round for the second time, but beat Knox College 3-0 in their game at Irwin High, with Kevin Hawthorne bagging a brace.

Glenmuir ran roughshod over St Mary High, winning 10-0 in May Pen to top Group 5 on goal difference over Manchester High, who blanked Alphansus Davis High 3-0 at Brooks Park, with Jevohntae Gordon scoring two goals and Shamone Reynolds getting the other.

Mannings and Christiana were both 2-0 winners on Wednesday, beating B B Coke High and Belair High, respectively, to be on six points in Group 3.

Dainton Williams and Leanthony Coley scored for Mannings, who have yet to concede a goal this season from 10 games played.

McGrath High, a finalist last year, also made progress by beating Central High 2-0 at Effortville Community Centre.

The big Group 6 game between former champions Clarendon College and Dinthill Technical ended 0-0 with both improving to four points each.

Frome Technical handed Cornwall College their first loss of the season, edging them 2-1 in the second game of a double header at Llandilo. Antwain Cooper opened the scoring in the 55th minute and Romario Clarke added a second in the 61st. Rodieno Hines pulled one back for Cornwall in the 67th minute.

In the first game Rusea’s High rebounded from their loss to Maggotty High on Saturday to beat Petersfield High 3-0.

Defending champions Garvey Maceo High were held to a 1-1 draw by Titchfield High at Carder Park.

Tyreke McKenley gave Garvey Maceo the lead in the seventh minute before Twahn Biggs equalised in the 46th minute.

Kemps Hill High rebounded from their loss to Cornwall with a goal-filled 6-4 come-from-behind win over Cedric Titus High at William Knibb Memorial.

Ricardo Dean scored a hat-trick for Kemps Hill and Shemar Daley got a double. Terron Eccleston scored all four goals for Cedric Titus, who have been eliminated despite scoring seven goals in two games.

William Knibb Memorial stayed on course to advance after coming from behind two to earn a 2-2 draw with Morant Bay High.
