KINGSTON, Jamaica — Ookla, a global leader in connectivity intelligence, has awarded Flow as the “fastest mobile network in Jamaica” .

In a release this week, the telecommunications provider shared the achievement, noting that this recognition marks another major milestone for Flow, which, following Hurricane Melissa’s impact on Jamaica, has significantly accelerated investment in its mobile network to deliver a stronger, more innovative and more reliable experience for customers across the island.

“This recognition is extremely meaningful because it further validates the work our teams have been doing behind the scenes for months, and the accelerated restoration work completed in the aftermath of the Hurricane, to improve and re-establish connectivity on our mobile network,” said Stephen Price, vice president and general manager, Flow.

Price has also pledged rapid expansion of Flow’s coverage in 2026 with dozens of additional mobile sites planned and acquisition of additional mobile spectrum that will expand its network capacity to deliver enhanced service at even faster speeds in more areas.

“We are intensely focused on expanding both our network footprint and quality as we work to serve our fellow Jamaicans. We will also continue our ongoing expansion project which strategically places new sites to address known coverage gaps,” added Price as he commented further on the planned network improvements.

Community and customer feedback are also playing a central role in guiding the improvements and fine-tuning coverage across the island, Price said.

“All of this, while further reinforcing our entire network with the most advanced satellite back-up connectivity that will prove valuable in the event we have another catastrophic event,” he assured.

Flow will also continue to strengthen its back-up power capabilities at critical facilities to minimise interruptions from power outages, he added.

With these improvements, there is no stopping a noticeably enhanced experience for our customers,” Price further noted.

In December 2025, Flow launched Wi-Fi calling – a new and innovative feature that enables crystal-clear conversations wherever a Wi-Fi connection without the need for apps and has maintained its Flow Essential product which provides text messaging access via satellite in deeply remote areas of the island not previously accessible via any local carrier.

To enable more persons to experience the improvements on the Flow network, new customer incentives have been launched among other sweeteners to make it easier for Jamaicans to access the latest smartphones and mobile technology at affordable prices.
