Falmouth United wins fourth straight game

MUNRO, St Elizabeth — Falmouth United extended their winning run to four straight games on Saturday after beating St Bess United 4-2 in their Jamaica Football Championship Zone B first round game at Munro College.

Falmouth United, who lost to Spanish Town Police on penalties in the semi-final last season, started the present season slowly, taking one point from their first three games before reeling off a series of wins and are in third place on 13 points.

Humble Lion FC, who were idle this weekend, lead with 16 points, two more than Roaring River, who rebounded from their loss last weekend to beat Holland PYC 2-1 on Saturday.

Sakka Club Browns Town, who also sat out this weekend, leads Zone A with 16 points, one more than Tru-Juice FC, who were held 2-2 by Baptist Alliance, while the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) have moved up to third on 13 points after a 2-0 win over WiFi United.

Meanwhile, Lime Hall’s game against Meadforest FC was called off after 26 minutes after the lighting system at Drax Hall failed and the organisers were unable to fix the issues.

The game was tied at 0-0 at the time of the stoppage.

At Munro College, Kayvon Donaldson and Phelan Christie continued their scoring run while Mark Lewis and Jordan Brown also scored in their win over St Bess United.

Rajay Wright and Jayquan Mitchell scored for the home team.

Kajaye Williams scored in the 33rd minute to give Roaring River FC the lead over Holland PYC at halftime before O’Shawn Neil added a second in the 75th minute.

Valentine Thompson scored an 86th-minute consolation goal for Holland PYC, who were losing their fourth game of the season.

Also in Zone B, Duncans United won back to back games, coming from behind to beat Petersfield FC at the Trelawny Multipurpose Stadium.

Shamali Burley gave Petersfield the lead in the 26th minute and they led until the 66th minute when Kamari Gordon equalised for Duncans United before Kevone Jones scored the winner in the 72nd minute.

On Sunday, Lennox Wright scored a brace for Reno FC in their 2-1 win over STETHS Elite FA at Llandilo Sports Complex.

Wright scored in the fourth and 57th minutes before Kaieem Lewis scored for STETHS Elite in the 73rd minute.

Tru-Juice FC wasted an opportunity to take over the lead in Zone A, giving up a 2-0 lead against Baptist Alliance and had to settle for a 2-2 draw.

Rusheen Cummings gave Tru-Juice the lead in the 53rd minute and Tafari Harriott added a second in the 66th minute.

Tamar Francis halved the deficit for Baptist Alliance when he scored in the 75th minute before Davian Dacres pulled the home team level in the 86th minute.

The JDF scored two late goals, Devontae Francis opened the scoring in the 80th minute before Tevin Cheese added a second three minutes later.
