Toyota Jamaica launches all-new 6th generation RAV4

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Toyota Jamaica Limited has introduced the all-new sixth-generation Toyota RAV4 to its showrooms across the island, marking the latest update to one of Jamaica’s most popular sport utility vehicles.

The new RAV4 arrives as demand grows locally for vehicles that balance fuel efficiency with everyday practicality, particularly amid rising interest in hybrid technology as a more economical option for drivers.

Two powertrain options are available. The gasoline variant is equipped with a 2.0-litre engine and automatic transmission, while the hybrid model pairs a 2.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor system. Local testing has indicated fuel consumption of about five litres per 100 kilometres for the hybrid version. A GR-Sport trim, developed by Toyota Gazoo Racing, is also included in the lineup, featuring performance-inspired styling.

The model is the first to debut with Toyota Safety Sense 4.0, the company’s latest driver-assistance package. Standard safety features include a pre-collision system with pedestrian and cyclist detection, adaptive cruise control, lane departure alert with steering assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high-beam assist. Additional safety equipment includes seven airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS), vehicle stability control, hill start assist, and parking sensors with a reverse camera.

Interior updates focus on a redesigned infotainment system with a larger touchscreen and updated interface. Other features include wireless phone charging, multiple USB ports, smartphone connectivity via Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth capability, rain-sensing wipers, and, on higher trims, a powered tailgate and moonroof.

Pricing for the new RAV4 starts at $7.95 million. Warranty coverage includes three years or 100,000 kilometres, along with three years or 45,000 kilometres of complimentary maintenance. Hybrid variants carry an additional six-year warranty on the battery system.
