Man City face in-form Southampton in FA Cup semi Gunners host struggling Newcastle in EPL

With one piece of silverware already tucked away, Man City will be looking to complete a league and cup treble this season, and they are good value to reach the final when they host Southampton in the semi-final this Saturday. On the other hand, Arsenal will look to increase their lead atop the standing when they host Newcastle at the Emirates.

Event # 1 – FA Cup – Manchester City vs Southampton – 11:15AM

Manchester City are back at the Wembley Stadium and will be looking to seal another Cup final trip when they face an in-form Southampton side this Saturday, April 25. With one piece of silverware already safely tucked away, City will be primed to complete a league and Cup treble this season. And they look set to complete the feat, especially in this competition. A 4-0 mauling of Liverpool in the quarter-finals provides proof of their intention. With that said, City head into this clash with confidence at an all-time high after they defeated Premier League leaders Arsenal 2-1 at home last weekend to move within touching distance of the Gunners.

Southampton, on the other hand, enter this match in fine form themselves, having defeated Swansea 2-1 in their most recent match, extending their eight-match winning run in the championship. The Saints have been impressive in their FA Cup run this term as they defeated Arsenal in the quarter-finals to set up this tantalising clash with Manchester City. However, despite their impressive recent form, Southampton faces the uphill task of beating a Man City side that has consistently beat them in their head-to-head encounters and City are currently in a rampant form, brushing aside all and sundry as they aim to complete a domestic treble.

Key Stats

● Man City has won their last five matches on the trot and have kept a clean sheet in each of their three matches.

● Southampton has won their last eight matches on the trot and have scored at least one goal in each of their last 21 matches.

● Both sides – Man City has won three of their last four FA Cup matches against Southampton, with the Saints last away victory against Man City coming back in 2004.

The betting Tip. City win.

Event # EPL – Arsenal vs Newcastle – 11:30AM

Arsenal and Newcastle will lock horns at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, with Arsenal aiming to rebound from their potentially damaging defeat to Manchester City last week. At one stage this season, Arsenal looked like they could win the quadruple, but the Gunners have misfired badly and are staring at the prospect of finishing the season trophyless. Indeed, Arsenal were beaten in the Carabao Cup final by a Manchester City side that are chasing them down for the Premier league title, and they have also been knocked out of the FA Cup. They have a UEFA Champions League semi-final clash against a battle-hardened Atletico Madrid side that won’t be easy to beat. And with Manchester City leading Burnley 1-0 at the time of writing this article, Arsenal are also in danger of missing out on the Premier League title yet again. Indeed, two successive defeats mean Arsenal are only leading Man City by three points, so if City prevail against Burnley, they will jump to the top of the table.

Newcastle arrives at the Emirates in poor form after a run of four straight defeats, but they face an Arsenal side who are going through a crisis of their own with just one win in seven games in all competitions. With that said, Newcastle’s 1-2 home defeat in their last match against Bournemouth extends a worrying pattern, whereby they have now lost four of their last five overall matches, conceding heavily in each of them, the 7-2 battering from Barcelona in the Champions League stands out. Away form raises further concern for Newcastle as they have lost three of their last four away games in all competitions, but more worryingly for Newcastle and their fans is that they have lost 12 of their last 13 away games against Arsenal.

Key Stats

• Arsenal has won four of their last six Premier League matches but have lost their last two league matches to Bournemouth and Man City.

• Newcastle has lost their last three Premier League matches and have won just one of their last seven overall matches.

• Both sides – Arsenal has won 12 of their last 13 Premier League home matches against Newcastle.

The betting Tip. Arsenal win.
