Supernatural Power demolishes rivals In World Vet Day Trophy
As expected, the Philip Feanny-conditioned Supernatural Power turned the $1.25-million 2026 World Vet Day Trophy into a procession, slamming rivals by 13 lengths in the one-mile (1,600m) feature at Caymanas Park on Saturday.
The four-year-old American-bred grey filly by Cross Traffic out of Urquia made light work of her Overnight Allowance rivals, stopping the clock in an impressive 1:35.3 — just one second outside the track record of 1:34.3 set by Wantin An Havin in 1997.
Ridden by two-time champion jockey Raddesh Roman, Supernatural Power was slowly into stride at the off but recovered quickly to move into second place behind California Gold (Demar Williams), leaving the intersection at the seven-furlong (1,400m) marker.
Roman wasted no time as Supernatural Power surged to the front approaching the six-furlong (1,200m) point, and from there the race was over as a contest. The filly cruised through the final three furlongs, widening with every stride to win untouched by 13 lengths.
Is That A Fact (Robert Halledeen) finished second, with Cookie Day N Night (Emelio McLean) third. The splits were 23.3 x 45.4 x 1:10.4 x 1:23.1. The win was a relief for backers who sent Supernatural Power off as the prohibitive 1-5 favourite. It was her first win of the season after two strong seconds.
Trainer Patrick Lynch and jockeys Richie Shakes and Tevin Foster won two races on the 10-race card.
Lynch saddled Princess Cataleya (Tajay Suckoo) in the seventh race and Lauren’s Secret (Nicardo Carr) in the eighth race.
Shakes won aboard Greyt Magnum in the first race for trainer Ray Phillips and Newland Links in the sixth race for trainer Barrington Bernard.
Foster’s winners were Honour Prince for trainer Robert Pearson in the third race and Any Means for trainer Michael Marlowe in the fourth race.
Racing continues today.
