Treasure Beach, Tivoli resume halted JPL game today
Treasure Beach FC will go after a third-straight win when they face Tivoli Gardens today at the STETHS Sports Complex to complete their Jamaica Premier League match that was called off at half-time on April 1.
Treasure Beach led 2-1 at the break when the match was halted due to a waterlogged field. The game will resume in the 46th minute, with only the second half to be played.
Under FIFA rules, only players listed on the original match card will be eligible to take part, and any cautions issued in the first half will remain in effect.
While Tivoli Gardens are playing out their fixtures with no chance of qualifying for the play-offs or being relegated, the stakes remain high for Treasure Beach.
Treasure Beach are in a three-way battle with Molynes and Harbour View to avoid joining Spanish Town Police FC in the relegation zone at the end of the season.
They have picked up seven points from their last three games, including back-to-back wins, to move to 37 points, and will look to carry that momentum into today’s resumption against a Tivoli Gardens side that have lost three of their last four matches.
A win for Treasure Beach would move them above Molynes into 11th place and four points clear of the relegation zone with two matches remaining in the regular season.
