Chris Martin readies new music
...grateful for continued relevance after 21 years
For singer Christopher Martin there’s a calm confidence that comes with longevity. The singer, who made his career debut as a young talent on Digicel Rising Stars back in 2005, said his time in the industry is proof enough that endurance is one of his biggest qualities.
With that said, the singer shared that there’s no need to announce his abilities; instead, he continues to show up in gratitude, in perspective, and in a quiet commitment to keep going.
“With everything in life there’s challenges and rewards, so we have to learn to just take our punches, roll with it, and make the best of every situation,” he told the Jamaica Observer in a recent interview.
As he reflected on a musical journey that now spans more than two decades, the Big Deal artiste admitted that while he stays humble his accomplishments have been no small feat in an industry that constantly shifts, reinvents, and demands relevance.
Martin said the milestone is less about survival and more about appreciation.
“It’s been 21 years in the business for me and, to still be relevant, it’s a blessing,” he shared. “Mi give thanks to the fans. Without the people this journey wouldn’t have got to where it’s at, and so I’m grateful.”
That gratitude isn’t solely rooted in nostalgia — it’s active, present, and shaping what comes next.
His latest single, Don’t Have to Ask, is already gaining traction, accompanied by a music video that continues to build momentum among listeners.
But the seasoned artiste indicated that fans can expect even more music.
“Right now we have a single out that’s doing well… and we have a body of work coming out this summer, so just gwaan look out,” he said. “A lot is going to happen; whole heap a new Schweppes. We can’t give away too much just yet, but just know, it’s going to be good.”
