‘Incredibly fulfilling’
The 10th staging of the Jill Stewart MoBay City Run on Sunday, May 3, 2026 attracted record participation of some 10,000 people who answered the organisers’ call to help raise at least $10 million for educational purposes in western Jamaica.
“It was incredibly fulfilling. While I watched the crowd and saw the massive turnout, I really wanted to cry,” organiser Janet Silvera told the Jamaica Observer.
Silvera had previously announced that the event was committed to directly assisting five high schools that were severely damaged by Hurricane Melissa last October, and five tertiary institutions that have been beneficiaries from the run’s first staging.
During the 2024 launch, the then MoBay City Run was renamed in honour of Jill Stewart, the late wife of Sandals Resorts International Executive Chairman Adam Stewart. She was one of the event’s biggest supporters before she passed.
