BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (CMC) – Barbados Pride head coach Vasbert Drakes said his team has “done their homework” on the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force and are fully prepared for their crucial semi-final clash in the West Indies Championship.

The arch-rivals will face off at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua on Sunday, with the winner earning a spot in the final against defending champions Guyana Harpy Eagles.

In an interview with the Nation during a training session on Tuesday, Drakes said the team was prepared for the change in conditions expected in Antigua, having played their opening three matches in Jamaica.

“They always present a strong challenge, so we have done our homework, and we are ready for anything they have to throw at us. We will take the lessons from Jamaica with us to Antigua for the next battle.

“We have been doing extensive research, and we know that the par score is between 280 and 320 at Coolidge…It will be a totally different environment we will be playing in,” Drakes said.

“…We always have that winning mindset in this Barbados team, and that has not changed. Earlier in the competition we came in as underdogs, and that hasn’t changed. Trinidad have been playing some really good cricket, so we know what is ahead of us. We have solid plans, and we will play to win.”

The Pride has made one change to their 13-member squad, with fast bowler Akeem Jordan replacing fellow pacer Jair McAllister.
