The hunt for Beaches 2.0 kicks off in Turks and Caicos Islands
THOSE who thought Treasure Beach, the beautiful string of rustic fishing villages in St Elizabeth on Jamaica’s mostly virginal south coast, was unique in name, might now wish to update their geography.
A beguiling plot of land possessing indescribable beauty that Turks and Caicos Islanders had long ago affectionately dubbed ‘Treasure Beach’ has now become the newest star in the Beaches Turks and Caicos constellation.
Treasure Beach Village, pointing towards the shift in multigenerational travel, this weekend invited more than 500 guests comprising travel advisors, government and tourism officials, celebrities, and holidaying guests to sample its simply gorgeous oceanfront villas with private pools, rooftop decks and expansive family suites.
The party blasted off Thursday with a welcome Regatta Golden Hour in deference to family tradition in the TCI and its sister islands of The Bahamas. Treasure Beach Village General Manager Deryk Meany gave his usually rousing welcome.
The weekend climaxed Saturday night with a high-energy Treasure Beach Village Bash where Jamaica’s Prime Minister Dr Andrew Holness was special guest. Sandals Resorts International Executive Chairman Adam Stewart hosted the event marking the official launch of the $50-million Treasure Beach Village Turks and Caicos, which had its soft opening in March this year.
The opening also launched the next chapter in Beaches 2.0 which is set to grow its presence across the Caribbean as part of an estimated $1-billion investment, featuring new destinations slated for Exuma in The Bahamas, Jamaica, Barbados, and St Vincent and the Grenadines.
