Four former champs seek VMF U-13 final spots
THREE-TIME defending champions Corinaldi Avenue Primary will lead four former champions seeking a place in the final of the St James Football Association/Victoria Mutual Foundation Under-13 competition in today’s semi-finals at WesPow Park.
Corinaldi Avenue Primary, who have not lost a game in three seasons, face 2017 champions John Rollins Success Primary in the first game, set to start at 10:00 am, and this will be followed by six-time champions Catherine Hall Primary taking on two-time winners Anchovy Primary.
The winners will qualify for the final which is set for Friday at the same venue.
Corinaldi Avenue, who are yet to concede a goal in the regular season for the last two seasons, and Anchovy Primary had won their first-round zones while Catherine Hall Primary and John Rollins Success Primary had advanced to the quarter-finals as runners-up.
Riomario Powell, the competition’s top scorer for the second-straight season, scored all four goals to lead Corinaldi Avenue to a 4-0 win over Flankers Primary in their quarter-final game played on May 14th, to take his tally for the season to 13 goals.
Anchovy Primary booked their semi-final spot that same day with a 1-0 win over Granville Primary, Nathaniel Smith scoring in the 21st minute.
A day later, John Rollins Success Primary defeated Irwin Primary 1-0, Ozaine Henry scoring the winner in the 40th minute, before Catherine Hall upset high-riding Barracks Road Primary, beating them 5-3 on penalties after they had played out goalless during regulation time.
